What makes the Brain PerforMAX brain training program different?
Previously, post mTBI/Concussion protocols consisted of rest until symptoms subside, completely removing an individual from activity. New research is challenging this theory and encouraging a fine balance between resting the brain and engaging the brain. Brain Performance Training aides this fine balance during the recovery process by closely monitoring an individual while combining a variety of cognitive strengthening activities, EEG biofeedback, brain rhythm training, and emotional/brain regulation training. These modalities assist the brain to reorganize itself into more effective and efficient performance patterns, with the goal of returning the individual to full activity as soon as possible. In order to develop an accurate and scientific treatment plan, we utilize a variety of post concussion/ mTBI evaluation tools. Our mTBI post- concussion program consists of a two part Occupational Therapy evaluation, with a QEEG brain mapping followed by 8-12 weeks of neurological, cognitive and brain performance training. Our assessments include visual screening for neurological change, balance screening for changes in proprioceptive body in space awareness, metronome assessment for auditory and visual motor processing delays, and neurocognition assessments.

Regardless of whether your brain injury left you in a wheelchair dependent on others or just feeling foggy and not like yourself, we have a program for you. Each brain injury is as unique and different as each individual. Even concussions are considered a brain injury and should not be taken lightly, especially if there are repeated concussions. Even one concussion can lead to post concussion syndrome such as brain fog, memory problems, headaches, mood swings, irritability, anxiety etc. There is also evidence of long term problems such as dementia.
All brain injuries, even if they appear mild, should be taken seriously. Often the symptoms of a concussion do not show up until hours or days after the incident. Even minor bumps and jolts to the brain can create injury and affect how the brain works and functions.
Symptoms of a Concussion
Headache
Brain Fog
Dizziness
Nausea and/ or vomiting
Light or sound sensitivity
Lethargy, Fatigue or slowed activity
Slowed thinking or difficulty processing information
Inability to tolerate lengthy instruction
Inability to follow directions
Personality changes
Poor memory
Drowsiness
Anxiety
Because brain injuries and concussions can cause long term problems, it is important to get the best care possible. Our program specializes in concussions/ mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBI) and getting you back to functioning as soon as possible.
Whether you had a concussion or a severe TBI, our Neuro team is trained at creating effective programs that can treat and significantly improve your quality of life. At Neuro Rehab Connection we work with you in building a recovery plan that is customized to you and your needs
